Description

This is a pencil (2b) on 16 x 24 swathmore paper that I did for a friend about 3 years ago of her Grandfather who had passed away. He was fun to draw and had a lot of character!!!

This is freehand and not graphed, I just cant bring myself to graph!

I recently got the chance to scan it in and was messing with the contrast and I hope i didn't totally ruin it!

er...what else... oh this is composed of about 3 different pictures of him. I will try to see if i can get the pics from my friend

Great work. I don't know if the contrast took away some of the details (as for the roundness of the cheeks for example), if so..too bad, but the picture is conveying the feeling really well. thumbs up!

Thanks everyone!! LOL Thank you DAykan!
Thank you Hybridos and GijsRoest!
There is a lot of subtleties missing from the scan I am just not very good at fixing it in photoshop. LOL i love to used photoshop to draw but when it comes to using it for what it was actually made for (photos) i STINK!

I like the way how you got his smile. It looks very real and this drawing sure was a great gift to your friend since it will remind her of his positve and good sides. +7/7 (thumbup)

Thank you teseracto and Fab! Even though i don't think i was the best technical wise in drawing it i think i was fairly successful enough on capturing his emotion which was what really mattered to my friend. It made her cry! very sad but happy at the same time! made me feel good yo!

I especially like the head ; even though youve done little shading on it, the contrast makes it look very realistic ...
Great work ;)
